あとがきAfterwordTohoku University Reconstruction Action東北大学復興アクション共に未来へCooperation to the Future東日本大震災から4年間、私たち東北大学は「東北復興・日本新生の先導」を目指すことをスローガンとして掲げ、全学をあげて多種多様な取り組みを展開してきました。荒廃した大地に大学が持つ「知の種」を撒き、育て、その実りが地域の復興に繋がって欲しい、そんな願いを込めた取り組みです。本書にはそのような4年間の活動の軌跡まとめました。震災の経験と教訓を踏まえた実践的な防災研究、崩壊した地域医療の支援と東北発の未来型医療の実現、漁業・水産業の復活、起業家の育成、新産業を生む技術開発など、まさに本学の建学の理念の一つである「実学尊重」を具現化するような活動が進められています。これらの国の財政支援を受けた大型プロジェクトの他にも、構成員提案型の100以上の大小様々な復興アクションが継続的に進んでいる様子を紹介しました。活動開始時期が異なり、またプロジェクトの目標や手法も異なりますので、その進み具合は一様ではありませんが、撒いた「知の種」のその後を見ると、発芽して幹は着実に成長して枝が伸び、早くも開花したもの、結実しそうなものもあることをお分かりいただけたのではないかと思います。私たちが歩んできた道は、着実に東北の復興に向かって延びていると感じられるようになってきました。しかし、本格的な復興にはまだほど遠く、進めば進むだけ、また新たな課題も見えてきます。これからは福島の復興に繋がる活動をさらに強化することも重要であると考えています。東北大学は東日本大震災の被災地を創造的復興に導くために、今後も持てる知の総力を結集し、継続して活動を続けます。皆様方の変わらぬ温かいご支援とご協力をお願いします。Four years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and we at Tohoku University have made "Leadingthe Tohoku Recovery/Rebirth of Japan" as our slogan to represent our objectives in developing diverse initiativesthroughout the campus. We undertook these initiatives with the hope that the“seeds of knowledge”we possess asa university located in great disaster area can be planted, cultivated, and harvested to benefit recovery of the region.This publication summarizes the progress of those four years of activities.Practical research about disaster prevention gained from disaster experience and lessons learned, support forcommunity health care in decimated areas as well as implementing a next generation medicine developed in Tohoku,recovery of the fishing and marine products industries, training of entrepreneurs, and technological development thatgives birth to new industry, etc. are all activities we are continuing that truly embody "Practice-Oriented Researchand Education," one of our university’s principles. In addition to these large projects financially supported by thegovernments, we introduced more than 100 various recovery actions large and small proposed by faculty membersthat are continuing to make progress.Since the starting periods of these projects differ, as do their respective e goalsand methods, they are not progressing uniformly, but looking as we observewhat has happened after these "seeds of knowledge" were planted, wefindthat some of them germinated, their stalks rising up steadily, extending enbranches, already starting to flower, and nearly about to bear fruit. Wecansense that the path we have been walking is heading towards a steady recoveryof Tohoku. Nevertheless, a real recovery is still a long ways away and the moreprogress we make, the more we are able to spot new challenges. Goingforward, we believe it will very important to further strengthen activities thatare connected to the recovery of Fukushima.In order for Tohoku University to lead a creative recovery for the Great East JapanEarthquake’s disaster areas, we will concentrate our knowledge and energy as wecontinue on with our activities.
